Mangoes are one of the popular fruits in the universe. But do you know that mangoes also have health benefits? Mangoes are an excellent source of vitamins A and C and a great source to replenish that lost potassium. An average sized mango can contain up to 40% of your daily fiber need. If you are eating a mango per day, irregularity is not a problem for you now.

Mangoes are one of the best sources of betacarotene, quercetin and astragalin – the powerful antioxidants that neutralize free radicals which can damage cells and lead to heart disease, cancer, premature aging and degenerative diseases. Research has shown that dietary fiber has a protective effect against degenerative diseases, especially with regards to the heart; may help prevent certain types of cancer, as well as lowering blood cholesterol levels. Vitamin C in mangoes promotes healthy immune function and collagen formation. Vitamin A is important for vision and bone growth.

* Vitamin C – 45.7mg

* Carbohydrate – 28 g

* Total Fat – 0.45 g
* Potassium – 300 mg

Drinking mango juice is one of the way to get the health benefits from mangoes. Here is a few simple steps on how to prepare mango juice.

1. Remove the skin and seed of the mango.
2. Slice the mango into smaller slices.
2. Blend the slices of mango in a mixer to turn them into juice.
3. Add required amount of water.
4. Add enough sugar and stir well.

Did you know that mango skin also has minute amounts of urushiol, the same substance that poison ivy has.

I follow the theory that if something tastes REALLY good to you… you body needs the nutrients it has to offer. Others who don’t like mangos, may well have ample naturally.
